Oil Skimmers
are a simple and efficient means of separating floating, non-emulsified hydrocarbons such as mineral oil, hydraulic oil, fuels or solvents from containers, tanks or groundwater wells.
Types
We offer oil skimmers for small oil quantities of a few liters per hour, such as for CNC machining centers, up to large devices with several hundred liters per hour for industrial processes or wastewater treatment. Our product range includes belt oil skimmers, hose oil skimmers and disc oil skimmers.
How it works
Oil skimmers use a circumferential skimmer belt or a skimmer tube made of an oleophilic material such as various plastics or stainless steel to break the surface tension of the water and absorb the floating oil. The oil is separated from the skimmer belt or skimmer tube on the drive unit using wiper blades and drained into an adjacent collecting container.
Selection
When selecting a suitable device, it is not the tank content or the tank surface that is important, but above all the amount of oil generated in the process. Please therefore first determine the amount of oil generated in your application and then select a suitable skimmer according to the nominal outputs listed for the products. For most devices, we also need the individual belt or hose length you require in order to make an offer. The required belt length depends on the situation at the installation site and has practically no influence on the discharge performance. In any case, the belt should be chosen long enough that the tail pulley always remains submerged, even when the water level fluctuates. The installation level of the can also influence the required belt length. The installation height, in turn, depends on the local space conditions or the height of the adjacent oil collection tank.
